  • Red onion: 1/4 small, finely chopped
  • Celery: 1 stalk, finely chopped (optional)
  • Lime juice: 1 tablespoon (or lemon juice)
  • Olive oil: 1 tablespoon (optional)
  • Salt: to taste
  • Pepper: to taste
  • Fresh herbs: chopped cilantro, parsley, or dill (optional)

Equipment:

  • Mixing bowl
  • Fork
  • Cutting board and knife

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Ingredients:

    • Drain the canned tuna and place it in a mixing bowl.
    • Cut the avocado in half, remove the pit, and scoop the flesh into the bowl with the tuna.
  2. Mash and Mix:

    • Using a fork, gently mash the avocado while mixing it with the tuna until well combined. You can leave some chunks for texture.

  5. Serve:

    • Serve the avocado and tuna salad on its own, in a sandwich, on top of lettuce leaves, or with crackers. Garnish with fresh herbs if desired.

Tips:

  • For added flavor, you can mix in some diced bell pepper or cucumber.
  • If you prefer a spicier kick, add a few dashes of hot sauce or a sprinkle of red pepper flakes.
